Who We Are

Sporting Patagonia was founded by coach Nelson Saavedra and coach Mckenzie Olivares. They began their playing careers in Quintero, Chile. Early on, they were selected to play for the CDS Colo-Colo development academy in Santiago and played in the top youth tournaments across Chile and Argentina. In 2006, coach Nelson became an ANFA U17 National Champ. Players from that winning roster were on the Chilean national team roster that went on to win two Copa Americas in 2015 and 2016. He competed in multiple state and national tournaments as a youth player. Coach Mckenzie moved to Florida in 2004 and played at the highest level with Black Watch SC winning State cup and participating in national tournaments. In 2006 he played in the U14 youth final of the Donisti Cup international in San Sebastian, Spain. In 2009 he went on to play for NIC on a full scholarship matching up against top universities from the North West and participating in international tournaments all throughout North America, Mexico and Canada. They finished their playing careers in the Chilean second division short of making a first division professional debut and moved on to helping the next generation of youth players at their respective clubs.

Together they have helped hundreds of players reach their personal goals by providing quality training and support as players climb their competitive ladders. They have guided players through youth club placements, athletic scholarships, collegiate off-season training as well as taken players to compete at international tournaments in Chile and Brazil. Players at Sporting Patagonia are trained to achieve athletic excellence at all costs as well as instilling integral humanistic values.
